~I have worked for 20+ years as a physical therapist in orthopedics with the majority of time in private practice settings in Syracuse and in my hometown of Plattsburgh NY.
I lOVE WHAT I DO!
I am passionate about learning and about helping humankind. I am a truth seeker at heart which makes me very curious and question everything. The human body is beautifully spectacular AND it holds the answers. I help people find their answers. I make things easy and simple because they can and should be.
I was raised here in Plattsburgh, NY and had the privilege of first learning about physical therapy from my parents who practiced and owned their own private clinics.
I am blessed to be a mother and wife.
My other passions include getting lost in the woods, learning from nature, traveling, anything science, human emotions and experiences, local and organic food, the arts, dancing, yoga, running, music, prayer and meditation.

As an MDT and SBMC certified clinician, I go about your pain and problem in a very specific and systematic way that helps to uncover the root of the problem. I will ask specific questions to get a detailed history of what you're experiencing and then lead you through a movement examination to see how your body is affected by the issue. Understanding how your problem behaves and it's patterns gives us the clarity of what will help the most and the quickest. In this way, we can streamline your body's natural healing capabilities....amazing!
I have spent my professional career studying patterns. I have a special interest in mechanical pain (pain that is affected by movements and positions) and in the body-mind connection as it relates to pain and limitations. I use a bio-psycho-social approach to pain that is completely holistic.
My approach is 100% You-centered, strategic, and purposeful; best yet, it can empower you by giving you immediate and sustainable strategies for optimal self-treatment, recovery and preventative care.
When you come to see me you can expect:
-an inquisitive listener
-Simple explanations and reasonable, natural interventions
- an empowering and truthful attitude
-ongoing guidance and permission to return to your life as quickly as your symptoms allow
-confident hands to assist when needed
- generous amount of time with me each visit
Choosing the right provider and the most effective care can be challenging. My intent is to provide the most reliable assessment and effective treatment available. I respect that people value their time and money as well as their quality of care. I pride myself on balancing these three aspects in my approach. You should know that clients whom I work with, who achieve their optimal outcome, devote themselves to active participation in their care and eventually become independent in their program.

If you have Medicare or Worker's Compensation your insurance requires that you have a referral/ order for physical therapy services. Otherwise, no, you do not need a doctor's referral. In NYS you have direct access to physical therapy which means you can go to a physical therapist without a referral for 10 visits or 30 days.
Call and ask me. We can discuss your unique situation, options, and if I am the best provider for you.
The only way to know for sure is to call your insurance and ask what their reimbursement is for an out of network provider. And you may want to ask your insurance what you'd pay if you went to an in-network PT provider in another office. You'll want to consider your deductible status and copays you'll owe in an office that participates with your insurance. Due to rising copays and deductibles, many will find that the amount per visit is not far from going to a direct pay practice. There is also quality of care and number of visits to consider when determining what you may pay in total. Wherever you go for physical therapy ask up front what you will pay and how many visits are expected. You have choice and knowledge is power.
Test results and upcoming surgical interventions don't negate potential improvements. Test results only tell us part of the whole story and they don't tell us how we feel and function. Every person deserves a thorough evaluation to determine optimal potential.
I would be interested to know what experience you've had in physical therapy before and why you feel that it was not helpful. I recommend prior to scheduling in any PT clinic you ask about the provider's approach and experience. Successful outcomes start with a great fit between you and your provider. Don't you want to know who you're going to work with and how they practice? Ask lots of questions! Seek out the best care!
I love this one..... You can and you may get lucky to find something that works, or find something that doesn't make you worse (but that seems like a waste of time and not worse doesn't mean better), or you find something that makes you worse but you think it needs to feel worse to get better.... You may also find that there are a gazillion things that experts tell you that you should do for that diagnosis that you may have also found on the internet. Keep it simple. Get the right diagnosis.. Get the right treatment.
I use my brain and my hands. I havent found most instruments to be as or more effective in the 20 years I did use them while working in other offices. Research backs this up as well. Many of these instruments you can use at home or can find them in many alternative healthcare facilities if you'd like.
~Bonnie and Norm~
Members of our family have, over the past few years, benefited from
your extensive knowledge of helping bodies heal. Through knee
replacement, shoulder surgeries, injured foot and arm, your excellent knowledge and support have gotten us through the rough times. Good to know hat we can always depend on you to restore troubled bodies to working condition.
~Ellen~
I had not experienced a ruptured disc before nor the pain associated with it. My mental state was worn down from dealing with the pain and the prolonged extent of my condition. I doubted if I would recover and be able to return to things I enjoyed such as gardening and exercise. Kate gave me the confidence that I was going to get back to normal active lifestyle. That meant the world to me and gave me the motivation I needed.
-Not only was I in capable hands to address a disc problem but I had the benefit of my physical therapist being trained to recognize and treat vertigo quickly during a session.
-Kate is very knowledgeable, has a calming demeanor and is reassuring.
~Edith~
-I have been with Kate for a number of years and she is the perfect PT expert to help with any problem area. Kate is the best at explaining what she is going to have you do and why. Kate is the best with being honest and upfront with all my needs.. Kate gave me my life back and I am able to walk and do all the things I want!
~Cynthia~
I especially love your easy, confident attitude and knowledge applied to my previous treatments. Your plans, treatments and suggestions have always led me back to a state of physical well-being.
~Jon~
Kate is an outstanding physical therapist. Knowledgeable, resourceful, and caring, she helped me work through a chronic neck problem that had stumped other healthcare professionals. I really appreciate her range of expertise, the full attention that she gave me in each session, and her ability to both treat my problem and educate me about it. Thanks, Kate!
~Bruce~
I suffered a broken wrist, which required surgery and hardware to repair. Kate was very personable and comforting. She inquired about my injury, my daily lifestyle, my goals for PT and my expectations after PT and when the injury heals. She reassured me that with some work on both of our parts I will be back to ‘normal’ in no time. She kept encouraging me. I remember on a few occasions I may have over-worked my wrist, and showed up in pain for my PT appointment. Kate was attentive to my situation and changed her program.
